Missive auto blocks read trackers and 1x1 images to prevent senders from spying on what you do with their email. To be fully transparent, we used to offer read tracking, but we changed our minds and decided not only to remove the feature but actively fight against it. Here’s why.
Whenever you receive an email that contains a read tracker, you will see an icon (), letting you know that we've detected and blocked trackers. If you click on the icon, you can see who those trackers are and where they come from.
The tracking game continually evolves, the same goes for their methods. While we will keep our auto blockers up-to-date, it's possible that they don't cover you 100% of the time. For this and other purposes, we have always routed images through our own servers first. This means that trackers will never get your physical location because they can't know your IP address.
We currently block read trackers from these services:
